Our artisanal ice cream is a promise of perfect taste without compromising on good quality, care for healthy ingredients and the use of local resources. Krantz- Atelier de Ġeşmăgăta is a Romanian invention created by students and professors of the Faculty of Food Science and Engineering of the “Dunărea de Jos” University in Galați, which captured the attention of the whole world with the unique assortment in the world Quince and Plum – a Romanian invention awarded a gold medal in Paris, 2018, at the gastronomic competition- EcoTrophelia.

Almonds

Our story

Invention

In a small laboratory at the Faculty of Food Science and Engineering, part of the “Dunarea de Jos” University in Galati, three food engineering students, along with their professor, created something extraordinary: an organic, lactose-free ice cream made from whey.
Inspired by the challenge of reducing food waste and providing healthy alternatives, the girls used whey, a by-product of dairy production, as the main ingredient. To add flavor, they included cream and local fruits, ensuring a sustainable and delicious product.

Sustainability

This invention offered a nutritious, organic alternative that was ideal for people with lactose intolerance, while also reducing their impact on the environment. Their ice cream quickly gained attention, winning an award for its innovative approach to reducing food waste and promoting sustainable ingredients. The success was not just a simple delicacy, but became a symbol of how small, well-thought-out ideas can have a big impact. With the support of their teacher, the students demonstrated that science, creativity and a love of nature can create something that is both tasty and has a significant impact.
